This course offers two types of learning. You can choose from either:
- CLASSROOM: 2 day in person course OR
- BLENDED: Online learning + 1 Day in person course.
This course is mandatory for security officers in New Zealand that wish to hold a full Certificate of Approval. This introductory course covers those things that security staff need to know to keep safe while on the job.
The standards must be completed by all those that wish to work in the security industry and hold the Crowd Controller (CC), Personal Guard (PSG) and Property Guard (PRG) endorsements on the COA.
The course includes written assessments and practical activities in order to achieve the following NZQA Unit Standards.
- 27360 - describe conflict management in a security context
- 27361 - manage conflict situations in a security context
- 27364 - duties, roles, legal authority and limitations of security personnel
CLASSROOM: 2 day in person course
If you choose this option, ALL of the learning and assessment will be undertaken during these 2 days. You WILL NOT be required to complete any online training material. You just need to attend the 2 day course and our amazing Instructor will take good care of you.
BLENDED: Online learning plus 1 day in-person course
If you choose this option, you will need to complete some e-learning (online training and assessment) and classroom based practical training.
Upon successful registration and payment of your course fee, you will be enrolled to complete your e-learning that covers the theory components of the course (Units 27360 and 27364). The e-learning can take approximately 10-12 hours to complete at your own pace. Then you attend your classroom course where you will be treated to a super-charged practical session with one of our high-octane Trainers. We will we take the time to consolidate the most important things you learned during your e-learning and then teach you the key practical components covered by Unit 27361. There will be lots of practical activity and scenarios included, so make sure you come along ready and rearing to go!
The online learning component of this course MUST be completed before the classroom practical training. Students will be emailed their online learning portal login within 48 hours of booking this course.
Add Your Certificate of Approval Application
Upon successful completion of the course, you are now eligible to apply for your FULL (Green) Certificate of Approval. If you are a new applicant and don’t currently hold a TEMPORARY Certificate of Approval, we are more than happy to manage this process for you.
We will gather all of the necessary information to apply for your Warrant Card from the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) on your behalf, and save you the time and effort. For help with the application select the “Introduction to Security COA + Application” option when you book.
Once you application has been lodged, MOJ will complete a background check. If you have any previous criminal convictions or have been hospitalised for mental illness, this could prevent you from being granted a COA. If you have any concerns, please ask us for advice.
